Across from the acclaimed Ya’ax Hotel Boutique, a century-old mansion has been brought back to life. Its name: Casa Chakán. Emerging with renewed strength, it stands as a new cultural, social, and architectural landmark in Mérida, Mexico.

Originally built in the early 20th century, the property first served as a private family residence and later as medical offices. After years of abandonment, it was restored by Yucatecan entrepreneur Farid Estrada, founder of Grupo Naj, who led a meticulous transformation honoring both the history and spirit of the home.

Every original detail has been preserved—from soaring ceilings and traditional pasta tile floors to colonial doors and windows. The original layout remains intact, allowing heritage and contemporary vision to coexist in a dialogue that reflects Yucatán’s identity.

“Over the past three years, we have worked on restoring this beautiful property to offer it a new life,” Estrada shared during the project’s presentation.

A Tribute to Mérida’s Architectural Soul

More than a restoration, Casa Chakán is an act of devotion to Mérida. Its interiors balance classical elements with contemporary sensibilities, creating a refined setting designed for social gatherings, family celebrations, and corporate events.

The property features a grand vestibule, a private meeting room, a gourmet area ideal for curated culinary experiences, an intimate bar, and a suite with terraces that invite relaxation and quiet enjoyment.

Casa Chakán joins the portfolio of Grupo Naj, which also includes Ya’ax Hotel Boutique and the gastronomic gallery Ch’ooj. The common thread among them is a philosophy of conscious hospitality—centered on sustainability, understated luxury, and meaningful connection with the local community.
