Her pioneering laser technique is transforming aesthetic medicine—and redefining beauty through innovation.
In a world where aesthetic procedures are increasingly defined by technological innovation, Dr. Alejandra Alvaradohas become a visionary leader whose approach is setting new global standards.
A Mexican pioneer in using semiconductor diode laser for facial contouring and the treatment of post-surgical fibrosis, Dr. Alvarado has built a reputation for excellence through her renowned Médica AL clinics. She’s also spearheading an ambitious international expansion plan, reaching patients and professionals in the United States and the United Arab Emirates.
With her revolutionary AL Thermic model, designed to deliver natural and long-lasting results without surgery, she has attracted attention in some of the world’s most demanding markets—bringing global patients to Mexico for cutting-edge treatments. Through her AL Laser Academy, she’s now training other professionals and solidifying her status as a leader in advanced aesthetic medicine, with Mexico at its epicenter.
Dr. Alvarado represents a new generation of physicians who blend science, artistry, and precision, transforming beauty into a high-performance experience. In this exclusive conversation with HOTBOOK, she shares the pivotal moments that shaped her journey.
How did you discover your passion for laser surgery?
That’s a beautiful question because my love for laser techniques is deeply tied to the discipline that led me here. But beyond discipline, for me it’s about perfection, harmony, exact sciences, protocols—and the sum of it all. Working with this technique goes far beyond a semiconductor diode laser; it’s about changing lives.
What fuels your passion for the AL Thermic model? Why has it made such an impact?
AL Thermic is the result of years of research. It offers safe, optimal, and uniform heat transfer to tissue—a mathematical model that allows us to predict precise temperatures for irradiated skin. But the core of AL Thermic is safety.
Imagine going in for a laser treatment, and the doctor lacks proper training or is using a new platform for the first time. A mathematical model like this can prevent complications, especially burns. So if you ask me why I’m so passionate, it’s because AL Thermic ensures patient safety—and safety is the number one reason patients choose their doctor.
Beyond treating patients, you also train doctors. How did the AL Laser Academy start, and what excites you most about sharing your knowledge?
There’s a quote by Carl Sagan that resonates deeply with me: “When you’re in love, you want to tell the world. That’s why the idea that scientists shouldn’t speak publicly about science is absurd.”
It’s not just about teaching—it’s about sharing my life’s work, my passion, my protocols. It’s incredibly rewarding to see doctors grow professionally and spiritually. This technique starts with consciousness—and through it, they realize that what once seemed impossible is now within reach. It’s like opening the mind like a parachute and falling in love with the physics of laser technology.
What’s the goal behind your endolifting technique?
This minimally invasive technique uses thermal energy to elevate specific skin layers to supra-physiological temperatures—above 46°C—to break down the collagen structure and encourage reorganization. This helps reverse the damage caused by aging, weight loss, pregnancy, and other conditions.
Although it relies on pure physics and tissue biomechanics, success lies in selecting the right patients. With strict criteria, we can create an optimal and personalized treatment plan for each individual.

We know success doesn’t come easy. What has been your greatest challenge and how did you overcome it?
When I founded the academy, I was responding to a growing number of patients coming to me with complications from laser treatments. That’s when I began to develop the mathematical model that became AL Thermic.
But the hardest part wasn’t starting—it was when I faced my first group of students and realized I had to share the technique I had spent years developing. Seeing their spectacular results helped me understand the true power of sharing knowledge.
Beyond technology, there’s an artistic dimension to each treatment. How do you balance medical precision with the natural beauty of your patients?
That’s such an insightful question. Beauty is about harmony, about the unexpected, the essential elements that create balance. Every body is a perfect orbit of irregularities, and my job is to recognize and shape those unique traits.
Before we can achieve that harmony, we must acknowledge that every shape tells a story—of emotion, pain, or healing. Understanding that allows me to turn medicine into art.
What do you admire most in the patients who choose you?
Their determination to change—not just physically, but emotionally. Beauty is a state of mind. Feeling good in your own skin is one of the greatest accomplishments a person can achieve.
What advice would you give your patients?
I often share this on social media: we live in a difficult, even hostile world—one where social media promotes unattainable perfection. But what the world really needs is humans living real lives.
We need superhumans who are also deeply human: grateful, healthy, mindful, educated, kind, and constantly growing. People who wake up with dreams to chase—that’s your greatest differentiator.
What advice would you give young doctors who look up to you?
We are all born with a unique and unrepeatable genetic code, a story waiting to be told. Yes, it’s easy to think, “If she could do it, so can I”—and you absolutely can. But do it with your own essence, your own voice.
Many are born originals, but die as copies. Copies don’t transcend. They don’t leap forward. They remain behind the curtain.
