Founded by visionary designer Hajj Chebaro (1958–2023), Hajj Designless transformed Mexico’s luxury interior design landscape. Today, his three children—Tala, Jad, and Rauf Chebaro—carry the firm’s philosophy forward, creating spaces that are both highly crafted and deeply livable.

In collaboration with renowned contemporary architects such as Piero Lissoni, Daniel Álvarez, and Beatriz Peschard, Hajj Designless curates a portfolio rooted in Italian craftsmanship and global design excellence. Through its showroom and international presence—spanning more than 50 cities—the firm highlights the work of exceptional artisans and designers while advancing the language of luxury interiors.

Hajj Designless started in Milan. How did this cultural transition shape the studio’s approach to luxury interiors?
Tala Chebaro: Hajj Designless was founded in 1982 as an international company from the very beginning. My father worked in Japan and Saudi Arabia before settling in Italy and later Mexico. His philosophy remained constant: a passion for creating holistic environments that reflect the essence of each client. In every space we design, we emphasize what we consider our most defining trait—timelessness. We focus on materials and finishes that reveal the craftsmanship behind every piece. That’s the foundation we bring to every culture we work with.

Your studio represents exclusive Italian brands such as Boffi, Minotti, and Henge. How do these align with Hajj’s vision?
TC: These brands are pioneers. They set the tone for the global luxury design segment—our core niche. Each one works with leading architects and designers such as Rodolfo Dordoni and Piero Lissoni, ensuring an unmatched level of quality. My father introduced Italian design to Mexico in 1989, and this exclusive curation still defines the studio today.
What does the creative process behind Hajj Designless look like?
Rauf Chebaro: It’s our responsibility to immerse ourselves in the industry—attending fairs, discovering new collections, and understanding every emerging detail. This allows us to bring the latest trends to our clients and encourage creativity throughout each project.
Jad Chebaro: Understanding clients’ needs is key. We aim to give them what they want—even when they don’t yet know what that is. It’s a back-and-forth dialogue where our experience helps guide their vision.
What are the core principles that have shaped your reputation as a leader in luxury interiors?
JC: Clarity—knowing what is possible and what’s not, and communicating that honestly. Every project faces challenges, so our focus is always on finding solutions that protect the integrity of Hajj Designless and make the process easier for clients.
TC: That transparency helps us build intimate, trust-based relationships that often become friendships. Our brands and our deep knowledge of luxury design are essential to our success.
RC: Our direct relationships with the brands’ teams enable faster responses and resolutions—another reason why our clients remain so satisfied.

How do you integrate modern trends while preserving timeless design and artisanal mastery?
TC: It starts with the brands. Their process is rooted in craftsmanship rather than rapid trend cycles. Updates are meticulously refined—not rushed—ensuring relevance across decades. Material selection is also essential: each piece is made unique by its texture, grain, and composition.
JC: True timelessness shows in brands whose designs remain relevant regardless of industry shifts.

What challenges arise when turning clients’ ideas into tangible concepts?
TC: Sometimes it takes two meetings; sometimes twelve—depending on how clear the client’s vision is. It’s emotional, too, because they’re inviting us into their most personal space. Today, virtual reality helps clients visualize the final result more fully.
JC: Working with clients from various industries gives us fresh perspectives and allows us to build spaces that inspire. A great example: Rimadesio closets. Clients have told us that these spaces motivate them to be more organized—proof that interiors can shape behavior.

How do architectural collaborations enrich your process?
TC: Every architect brings a distinct worldview. They lead the project; we adapt to the space they envision. Understanding their style allows us to speak the same design language.
RC: It defines the canvas, but doesn’t limit creativity. Architectural context expands the possibilities.
How do you ensure spaces are both visually appealing and functional?
TC: By leveraging each brand’s tools. For example, with a Minotti sofa, there are 150 modular options and over 230 fabrics. The same piece can be refined for a formal living room or cozy enough for a family TV room.

What inspires Hajj Designless when planning new developments?
TC: The architect and the client.
After working in many cities, is there a project that you were particularly fond of?
C: Many of our projects are meaningful for different reasons. Like art, they connect with different parts of us.
TC: A standout project for me was the A·NÁN apartment with Grupo Arquitectura and Vanessa Padilla—every detail had a purpose. Another memorable one was Broome in New York, working with the first residential building by Renzo Piano. Designing within the rhythm of his architecture was extraordinary.

Which materials define your design language?
RC: Three essentials: Pelle Frau® leather, Henge’s hand-worked metals, and Minotti fabrics with their exclusive patterns.
TC: Stone and marble are also central—each expresses its own distinctive character.
How do you incorporate sustainable thinking into your work?
TC: Through logistics—optimizing shipping routes and ensuring containers are fully loaded to reduce emissions.
RC: Our brands are also evolving: exploring alternatives to leather and implementing water-saving, recycling-oriented manufacturing processes.
TC: And our projects are meant to last 30–40 years. Sustainability begins with durability.
