How do you strike a balance between funk’s high energy and R&B’s intimacy?

I think I’ve found a pretty good balance. It’s a cool mix because funk brings this energizing, physical vibe, while R&B is more subtle—kind of “under the table.” What I try to do is take 50/50 from both: use the musicality and instrumentation of funk for energy, then blend it with rhythm and blues to mellow it out a bit. You always need balance, and I try to keep my music as well-rounded as possible.

What do you hope people feel when they hear you live?

I like to think that when people listen to my music, they feel understood and connected. It’s not just about performing—it’s about saying, “I heard you, I felt that too, I’ve been there.” That’s what I want to offer: a kind of big sister warmth, a presence that’s there for you, turning your stories into songs that stay by your side.
