Hermès adds a new chapter to its history with the opening of Maison Bond Street, located at 166 New Bond Street, one of London’s most iconic shopping destinations. More than a store, the new space has been conceived as a maison designed to showcase the full Hermès universe through fashion, design, craftsmanship, and art.
The new address spans six interconnected historic buildings and offers nearly 2,000 square meters across five levels. With this opening, Hermès inaugurates its sixth maison worldwide and further strengthens its presence in the United Kingdom.
From the moment visitors enter, Maison Bond Street is designed to feel more like a residence than a traditional boutique. Each room blends the building’s historic character with contemporary elements created by architecture firm RDAI under the direction of Denis Montel.
One of the most striking features is the central atrium, reimagined by Foster + Partners. At its heart stands a sculptural stone-and-glass staircase that connects the different levels of the maison and serves as one of the defining elements of the visitor experience.
Art also plays a central role throughout the project. More than 500 works were selected specifically for the space, creating a visual dialogue with Hermès’ various collections. Among them is a horse sculpture by British artist Jessica Wetherly, commissioned especially to mark the opening.
Across its different floors, Maison Bond Street brings together the many worlds of Hermès. Visitors can explore beauty, fragrance, jewelry, watches, leather goods, women’s and men’s ready-to-wear, home collections, and the house’s equestrian universe.
One of the most distinctive aspects of the new location is the presence of Hermès artisans working on-site. Guests have the opportunity to observe some of the processes behind the maison’s renowned savoir-faire and gain a deeper appreciation for the craftsmanship that goes into creating pieces designed to last for generations.
The top floor is dedicated to the Émile Hermès Collection, inspired by the Hermès family’s private collection in Paris. The level also features terraces and gardens overlooking the city, adding another layer to the maison experience.
To celebrate the opening, Hermès has introduced a selection of exclusive creations designed specifically for Maison Bond Street, including leather goods, silk scarves, watches, jewelry, fragrances, and home objects.
The building’s windows are also part of the celebration through The Rocabarn, an installation created by British artist Kate Jenkins. Imagined as a whimsical beauty salon for horses, the work combines crochet, knitting, and embroidery to bring a playful and imaginative spirit to the new address.
With the opening of Maison Bond Street, Hermès continues its commitment to creating spaces where craftsmanship, design, art, and creativity come together, offering visitors a deeper and more immersive experience of the maison’s world.
