A Personal Archive

The observation of light, the movement of the figure, and a touch of spontaneity. Through these three elements, photographer Karla Lisker opens a space to capture the moments when the subject in front of the camera stops posing and simply exists.

Her project, In Between Shots, emerges from this search: images where naturalness takes precedence over staging. Moving away from the rigidity of large-scale productions, Lisker finds beauty in the unexpected—in the instant when human fragility and light intersect. That fleeting moment is where her images begin. “There’s something very special when people stop posing. I believe that’s when their essence truly appears.”

More than a visual record, her work becomes an exercise in honesty. “I’m fascinated by photographing someone when they feel completely honest with themselves, because those emotions can be felt and translate into a freer image.”

For the photographer, these images tell an intimate and authentic story. They portray the subject at the moment when masks disappear, when the body relaxes and people simply become themselves. From that place, their beauty emerges.
