If you’re searching for the perfect balance between relaxation, beachside living, exceptional dining, and wellness-focused activities, Mayakoba is an ideal destination. Located in the heart of the Riviera Maya, this expansive resort community offers turquoise waters, lush jungle landscapes, and a collection of luxury hotels designed for different styles of travel.

Each property within Mayakoba was carefully selected and conceived with a distinct guest experience in mind. For family trips and wellness retreats, Banyan Tree Mayakoba is a standout option. Those drawn to contemporary architecture and a more modern atmosphere may prefer Andaz Mayakoba Resort Riviera Maya.
Meanwhile, Fairmont Mayakoba is particularly suited for larger groups and travelers interested in a wide variety of on-site activities. For guests prioritizing elevated luxury and privacy, Rosewood Mayakoba remains one of the most refined experiences within the complex.

Gastronomy, Wellness, and Outdoor Experiences
Mayakoba is home to more than 20 restaurants, along with a wide range of experiences that extend far beyond the beach. Guests can take exclusive cooking classes at El Pueblito Cooking School, explore the coastline aboard a Van Dutch 55 yacht, or refine their swing with private lessons at the Jim McLean Golf School.
Outdoor activities also play a central role in the destination, with options including kayaking, paddleboarding, snorkeling, diving, and guided tours through nearby cenotes.
A Sustainable Vision
From the beginning, the concept behind Mayakoba centered on creating a destination rooted in sustainable and eco-conscious design. The development sought to integrate hotels, infrastructure, and recreational spaces into the existing jungle environment while preserving and protecting the surrounding ecosystem.
Today, Mayakoba is internationally recognized for its ambitious mangrove restoration efforts. As part of the project, a navigable lagoon system of artificial canals was created, spanning 25 hectares and extending over 13 kilometers.

To support transportation throughout the property, a dedicated marina was built near Banyan Tree Mayakoba, providing maintenance for the boats that transport guests between hotels. The marina also plays a key role in protecting the surrounding wildlife and maintaining the ecological balance of the area.
The restoration of these ecosystems has transformed Mayakoba into a natural habitat for nearly 200 species of fish, reptiles, crustaceans, and mollusks. Before these conservation efforts, the area supported only around 70 species, making the project a remarkable example of environmental recovery.

El Camaleón Golf Course
Thanks to these attributes and its internationally recognized golf facilities, El Camaleón Golf Course became the first course outside the United States and Canada to host a PGA Tour event—a distinction it continues to hold today.
With its balance of luxury hospitality, nature conservation, and immersive experiences, Mayakoba offers a distinct way of experiencing the Riviera Maya. The next time you begin planning a beach getaway, it deserves a place at the top of the list.
